It\u2019s <\/em>clothed in human blood and gives life to the body\u201c, while the second is \u201ca veritable portion of God Above (<em>Sefer Tanya <\/em>Ch\u2019s 1-2, based on <em>Eitz Chaim <\/em>3:2). The latter is obviously \u201choly and not from the <em>sitra<\/em> <em>achra<\/em>\u201d (Zohar 1, p. 13a).<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Nephesh<\/em> is said to be correspond to the Holy <em>Ophanim<\/em>, as opposed to the <em>Neshama<\/em> and <em>Ruach<\/em>, which correspond to the <em>Seraphim<\/em>, and the Holy <em>Chayot<\/em> (Tikkunei Zohar Chadash 96a; also see HaRav m\u2019Fano\u2019s <em>Ma\u2019amar<\/em> <em>HaNephesh<\/em> 4:3).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Lower <em>Shechina<\/em> (i.e., the <em>Sephira<\/em> of <em>Malchut<\/em>, as opposed to that of <em>Binah<\/em> which is the Upper <em>Shechina<\/em>) that was granted to man is the <em>Nephesh<\/em> <em>Sichlit<\/em> (i.e., the rational soul, which was granted to us) in order to know all the ways of Torah\u201d (<em>Zohar<\/em> <em>Chadash<\/em>, <em>Yitro<\/em> p. 33b; also see <em>Sefer<\/em> <em>Tanya<\/em> Ch. 3 for more on the <em>Nephesh<\/em> <em>Sichlit<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose who engage in Torah study inherit a vital <em>Nephesh<\/em> (i.e., their life-force) from the <em>Shechina<\/em>\u201d (<em>Tikkunei<\/em> <em>Zohar<\/em> 45, p. 82b), and \u201cthey (thus) rectify their holy <em>Neshama<\/em> (Introduction to the Zohar 12b, also see <em>Ra\u2019aya<\/em> <em>Mehemna<\/em>, <em>Pinchas<\/em> p. 42b).
