While Job enunciated the universal longing for the Resurrection of the Dead by saying, \u201cCan the dead live again? If so, this would give me hope through all my years of struggle, and I would eagerly await the release of death\u201d, (14:14), and Daniel promised it when he said that \u201cmany of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt\u201d (12:2), Ezekiel laid out the details in Ch. 37 of his book.<\/p>\n
He said that \u201cthe hand of the\u00a0Lord\u00a0was upon me,\u00a0and he brought me out by the Spirit\u00a0of the\u00a0Lord\u00a0and set me in the middle of a valley;\u00a0it was full of bones.\u00a0He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry.\u00a0He asked me, \u201cSon of man, can these bones live?\u201d I said, \u201cLord God, you alone know.\u201d\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>Then he said to me, \u201cProphesy to these bones and say to them, \u2018Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!\u00a0This is what the Lord\u00a0God says to these bones: I will make spirit\u00a0enter you, and you will come to life. \u00a0<\/sup><\/b>I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the\u00a0Lord.\u2019\u201d So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone.\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them. Then He said to me, \u201cProphesy to the spirit;\u00a0prophesy, son of man, and say to it, \u2018This is what the Lord\u00a0God says: Come, spirit, from the four winds\u00a0and breathe into these slain, that they may live.\u2019\u201d\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>So I prophesied as he commanded\u00a0me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet\u2014a vast army.\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>Then He said to me: \u201cSon of man, these bones are the people of Israel. They say, \u2018Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off.\u2019\u00a0Therefore prophesy and say to them: \u2018This is what the Lord God\u00a0says: My people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel.\u00a0Then you, My people, will know that I am the\u00a0Lord,\u00a0when I open your graves and bring you up from them.\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>I will put my Spirit\u00a0in you and you will live, and I will settle\u00a0you in your own land.
