Since \u201chumanity and the universe at large will not be able to reach perfection while continuing to exist in a ruined state,\u201d he says there, \u201cthey and it will have to die and be undone, after which they and it will come back to life anew in a form that\u2019s conducive to perfection\u201d. Being more explicit he says elsewhere that the universe itself will \u201creturn to a state of formlessness and emptiness\u201d (Genesis 1:2) after 6,000 years (<i>Sanhedrin<\/i> 97b), \u201creturning then to its \u2026. primal form\u201d (<i>Ma\u2019amar<\/i> <i>HaIkarim<\/i>, <i>Geulah<\/i>) [1].<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the renewed relationship between body and soul then, Ramchal informs us that when the soul returns to the body after <i>Techiyat<\/i> <i>HaMeitim, <\/i>the soul will function \u201cin all its splendor and might\u201d (which it couldn\u2019t do while the individual was alive) and will purify the body to \u201ca great degree\u201d [2].
