In total, <\/b>Ramchal goes on to say, the seemingly four separate worlds of Atzilut<\/i><\/b>, Briah<\/i>, Yetzirah<\/i>, and Assiyah<\/i> <\/b>that comprise the world of Nikkudim<\/i> are <\/b>actually one<\/i><\/b> world which is <\/b>over-covered with three \u201cgarments\u201d, given that Atzilut<\/i> is only complete<\/b> in its functions with these \u201cgarments\u201d <\/b>(Petach<\/i> 38).<\/b><\/p>\n

As Ramchal explains in his own comments here, in our experience, \u201cgarments are what cover the body after it\u2019s already complete (i.e., after it\u2019s set in place and operating). A covering (like a garment) isn\u2019t a part of the body at all (i.e., it\u2019s merely an accoutrement). (In fact,) there can be many garments, one on top of the other, and not one of them adds anything new to the body.\u201d Well, \u201cthe same is true of Briah<\/i>, Yetzirah<\/i> and Assiyah<\/i> in relation to Atzilut<\/i>. For as we already know, the governing process is brought to completion in Atzilut<\/i>\u201d and the other worlds are merely accoutrements to it, so to speak.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s not to say that Briah<\/i>, Yetzirah<\/i>, and Assiyah <\/i>are meaningless: they clearly aren\u2019t, since \u201ceach provides a separate division of creations. Briah<\/i> provides souls and Yetzirah<\/i> provides angels, while Assiyah<\/i> provides the material entities\u201d, as he adds there and is widely known. And besides, \u201cAtzilut<\/i> is unable to carry out even what specifically relates to it except if it\u2019s clothed in Briah<\/i>, Yetzirah<\/i> and Assiyah<\/i>\u201d.<\/p>\n

But <\/b>the difference is as follows: when we examine these \u201cgarments\u201d <\/b>of Briah<\/i>, Yetzirah<\/i>, and Assiyah<\/i> individually, <\/b>we find that each one is <\/b>itself termed a world<\/b> unto itself, since each one of them serves a unique function <\/b>as we saw above. That\u2019s why when we consider Briah<\/i>, Yetzirah,<\/i> and Assiyah<\/i> along with Atzilut <\/i><\/b>altogether, then Briah<\/i>, Yetzirah,<\/i> and Assiyah <\/i>are only considered Atzilut<\/i>\u2019s \u201cgarments\u201d, yet when they\u2019re considered in light of their functions, Briah<\/i>, Yetzirah,<\/i> and Assiyah <\/i>are termed <\/b>and taken to be separate worlds <\/b>(Petach<\/i> 38).<\/p>\n
