We\u2019re taught here that Attik<\/em><\/strong> is the first Partzuf<\/em> attributed to <\/strong>the world of Atzilut<\/em>. It is <\/strong>in fact the Malchut<\/em> of <\/strong>the world of Adam<\/em> Kadmon<\/em>. <\/strong>Let\u2019s explain all of that.<\/p>\n

Recall that there are five worlds, in descending order:<\/p>\n

Adam Kadmon<\/em><\/p>\n

Atzilut<\/em><\/p>\n

Briah<\/em><\/p>\n

Yetzirah<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Ari pointed out in a number of places that these are the names of the Partzufim<\/em>, in descending order:<\/p>\n

Radlah<\/em> (i.e., Reishah<\/em> d\u2019La<\/em> Isyadah<\/em> — The Unknowable Source)<\/p>\n

Attik<\/em> (also known as Attik<\/em> Yomin<\/em>) and Nukveh<\/em> d\u2019 (the feminine aspect of) Attik<\/em> Yomin<\/em>)<\/p>\n

Erich<\/em> Anpin<\/em> and Nukveh<\/em> d\u2019 Erich<\/em> Anpin<\/em><\/p>\n

Abba<\/em> Ilah<\/em> (the Higher)<\/p>\n

Yisrael<\/em> Sabah<\/em><\/p>\n

Abba<\/em> and Imma<\/em><\/p>\n

Tevunah<\/em><\/p>\n

Zaire Anpin<\/em><\/p>\n

Yisrael<\/em><\/p>\n

Yaakov<\/em><\/p>\n

Nukveh<\/em> d\u2019Zaire Anpin<\/em><\/p>\n

Leah<\/em><\/p>\n

Rochel<\/em><\/p>\n

So, the statement that Attik<\/em><\/strong> is the first Partzuf<\/em> attributed to <\/strong>the world of Atzilut<\/em> <\/strong>means that even though Attik<\/em> functions as the Malchut<\/em> <\/strong>or lowest level of <\/strong>the world of Adam<\/em> Kadmon<\/em><\/strong>, it nonetheless also functions as the highest Partzuf<\/em> of the next lower world of Atzilut<\/em>. That is to say that Attik<\/em> straddles two worlds: Adam<\/em> Kadmon<\/em>, which it\u2019s the lowest degree of, and Atzilut<\/em> which it\u2019s the highest degree of (where it functions as Erich<\/em> Anpi<\/em>n which will be discussed in the Section Sixteen below).<\/p>\n
