As to Ramchal\u2019s and others\u2019 portrayal of the role of the Sephira<\/em> of Malchut<\/em> in all this, it comes to the following. As the last of the ten Sephirot<\/em>, Malchut<\/em> is the repository of the lot of them [1] and is dependent upon them all for its light and abilities [2].\u00a0 Yet it also serves as the mechanism through which the original plans are carried out [3] and actualized [4], and the world\u2019s \u201carchitect\u201d [5]. That\u2019s what Ramchal was referring to when he said that Malchut<\/em> is the root of the lower realms <\/strong>(Petach <\/em>11).<\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s equated with \u201cland\u201d [6] or, as we\u2019d put it in modern terms, the \u201cground\u201d or \u201cground floor\u201d. Thus, in order to go from one level to a lower one, an individual must first pass through the higher one\u2019s Malchut<\/em> [7]. At that point Malchut<\/em> no longer functions as the \u201cground floor\u201d anymore, but rather as a new \u201cceiling\u201d (i.e., Keter<\/em>) of the lower level [8]. Malchut<\/em> thus serves as the entranceway and port to lower and higher worlds. And that\u2019s the import of Ramchal\u2019s statement that one can only \u201cascend\u201d or \u201creceive\u201d through<\/strong> <\/strong>Malchut<\/strong><\/em> (Petach <\/em>11).<\/p>\n
