Here are some details about the \u201cappearance\u201d of the Sephirot<\/em>.<\/p>\n

First off, what the prophets and those more exalted souls \u201csaw\u201d were qualitative and quantitative differences and changes in the Sephirot<\/em>. And so, in Ramchal\u2019s words, the Sephirot<\/em> can be envisioned as shining brightly or dimly <\/strong>(Petach<\/em> 7), which is to say that they sometimes appeared more \u201cfleshed out\u201d if you will — detailed — than at others. \u201cDimmer\u201d, less detailed, representations, Ramchal explained in his comments to Petach<\/em> 7, were visions of the Sephirot<\/em> alone, while \u201cbrighter\u201d, more detailed, representations were visions of the Partzufim<\/em> which we\u2019ll discuss in detail later on which are more complex than pure Sephirot<\/em> [1].<\/p>\n

At other times the Sephirot<\/em> were pictured as assuming different forms and figures<\/strong> (Petach<\/em> 7) as when Ezekiel \u201csaw\u201d a \u201cman\u201d, a \u201clion\u201d, an \u201cox\u201d, and an \u201ceagle\u201d (Ezekiel 1:10). Sometimes they were seen to be moving about in specific ways, as when Ezekiel likewise saw various phenomena “running and\u00a0returning” here and there\u00a0(Ibid. 1:14). And they were also \u201cseen\u201d to follow certain rules <\/strong>of interactions, and could thus be pictured as being interdependent, sequential, <\/strong>or sequestered within each other <\/strong>(Petach<\/em> 10). <\/strong><\/p>\n

But again, these were prophetic visions<\/em> (which conformed to certain rules as we\u2019ll see). The Sephirot<\/em> themselves didn\u2019t assume shapes at all or move about.<\/p>\n
