The\u00a0 letter that receive the\u00a0crowns\u00a0are \u05e9\u05e2\u05d8\u05e0\u05d6\u05d2\u05e6 (see <em>Menachot<\/em> 29b) as well as the final \u05df and \u05e5 (see Rashi there).<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Machzor<\/em> <em>Vitry<\/em> (674\u201383) includes a copy of\u00a0<em>Sefer Tagin<\/em>\u00a0which addresses the\u00a0<em>tagin<\/em>\u00a0that appeared on the 12 stones which Moshe first set up in the Jordan River and that had been transferred later on to <em>Gilgal<\/em> (see Joshuah 4:9, 20) on which were inscribed the Torah text with the required <em>tagin<\/em>\u00a0(see Ramban to Deuteronomy 27:8).<\/p>\n<p>The point once again is that despite the fact that the trope, vowels, and crowns flesh-out the letters, add nuance and special import to them, enrich one\u2019s reading of them, and despite the fact that e<strong>ach completes an action appropriate to it<\/strong>, they\u2019re not essential, as<strong> the essential acts come about through the letters<\/strong> themselves as we indicated above.<\/p>\n<p>(c) 2011 Rabbi Yaakov Feldman<\/p>\n<p>Feel free to contact me at <a href=\"mailto:feldman@torah.org\">feldman@torah.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p>AT LONG LAST!
