Ramchal uses the same bilateral depiction for the source of rah<\/em>, which is once again a product of the Tzimtzum<\/em>, our subject at hand. On the one hand, rah<\/em> is rooted in and a means of accomplishing God\u2019s ultimate end, while on the other it\u2019s rooted in a division in the upper realms.<\/p>\n

As he says in Adir<\/em> Bamarom<\/em> (p. 393), God wants to \u201cexpress utter beneficence\u201d, and the greatest proof of that is the fact \u201ceven rah<\/em> itself is to be turned back to goodness\u201d. That\u2019s to say that rah<\/em> is not intrinsic to the world, as some posit, but rather a God-created phenomenon that serves as a tool to facilitate God\u2019s goal of utter beneficence [1].<\/p>\n

But there\u2019s the other side of the story, too, as we\u2019ll see.<\/p>\n
