{"id":863,"date":"2011-09-15T11:14:27","date_gmt":"2011-09-15T15:14:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ramchal.wordpress.com\/?p=863"},"modified":"2011-09-15T11:14:27","modified_gmt":"2011-09-15T15:14:27","slug":"an-afterword-on-tzimtzum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rabbiyaakovfeldman.aishdas.org\/ramchal\/2011\/09\/15\/an-afterword-on-tzimtzum\/","title":{"rendered":"An Afterword on Tzimtzum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ramchal concludes his discussion of the <em>Tzimtzum<\/em> with this: <strong>Now, while the light that can now be envisioned <\/strong>thanks to the <em>Tzimtzum<\/em> <strong>is termed \u201cemanated light\u201d <\/strong>by Ari [1] and others <strong>since it presents <\/strong>itself <strong>as<\/strong> <strong>a newly created light, <\/strong>that\u2019s still and all not to be taken literally. <strong>In fact it\u2019s only a specific aspect of the original light<\/strong> (i.e., of God\u2019s full presence)<strong> whose ability was diminished <\/strong>or hidden away <strong>as a consequence of the mystical process of <em>Tzimtzum<\/em> <\/strong>(<em>Petach<\/em> 25)<strong>. <\/strong>Or, as Ramchal explains in his own comments here, what appears is \u201c<em>Ein<\/em> <em>Sof\u2019s<\/em> own light\u201d to be sure, \u201cwhose ability has (nonetheless) been diminished and limited by the <em>Tzimtzum<\/em> process\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Note:<\/p>\n<p>[1]\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 See <em>Eitz<\/em> <em>Chaim<\/em> 1:3.
